America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruett’s

And Sheehan’s too, Mr. President. Sorry, but I thought I’d remind you. You’re not the President of Republican Party or President of Everyone-who-adores-you. You’re the President of United States of America. Remember? You may not like Cindy Sheehan and what she stands for. Fair enough. But she and her husband did send Casey Sheehan to fight your our war. And he did give his life for this country. America lives in freedom because of families like the Sheehan’s as well. But why do I think that you already knew that. I just wish you’d have the magnanimity and wisdom to actually say that. I think it would have helped.
However, I do agree that US soldiers should stay in Iraq and fight this insurgency to the best of their abilities. Frankly, in my humble opinion, these brave soldiers and their incredible families really don’t have much of a choice, thanks to the choices that you and your administration have made and continue to make on their behalf. What can these soldiers do? Just pack their bags and come home, especially after seeing their partners, their friends get blown into bits by these barbarians in front of their eyes. And if they don’t, how wise it is to continue staying in Iraq and see more of their buddies get blown up. And for what? For whose freedom? Mr. President, these brave soldiers and their families are really hanging on by a thread hoping against hope that the Iraqis would at some point of time step up and fight what really ought to have been their fight all along, especially after the day Saddam got captured.
The way I see it, if there is anyone who can truly “win” this war against the insurgency, in other words permanantly bust the balls of these barbarians (pardon my slang), it can only be - brave patriotic Iraqi soldiers. Americans can only help now. They can’t win this war for them. No one can.

Going along with your logic that President Bush is the President of ALL Americans…. it’s not Bush’s war it’s OUR war. Your’s and mine and everyone in America’s war.

Since in a democracy, every decision (good or bad) made by the White House and the Congress is in a sense a decision made by the majority of the people of that country, you’re right: It is indeed “our” war. And I am sure you realize how much I hate to admit it. Oh well, I guess we get what we deserve..:-( - Anand
