2008 US Presidential Elections

It’s going to be interesting to see what the citizens of this country decide in 2008. I was not impressed with their choice in 2000 and 2004, to put it mildly. 
Will I be disappointed again? I have a feeling I just might be in for a pleasant surprise. I can’t wait for it.
With that said, we still have two more years to go. And for the sake of this country and the entire world, I can only hope and pray that these turn out to be President George W. Bush’s finest years in office.

If the Democrats roll out Clinton for President in the 2008 elections the Republicans will win by a landslide. This country won’t vote for a woman for President. Especially, a dirty, corrupt, evil, lawbreaker like Clinton. We’d be better off with Hugo Chavez running this country, compared to Clinton.

Good to see that you are still around. And that your feelings are as strong as they always were..;-) Relax Erik. At the end of the day, Americans will get what Americans deserve. If they let themselves succumb to the opinions of the opinionated bozos on Fox or NBC, well, then that’s what they will deserve. Trust me, I know. I learnt it the hard way in 2004..;-)

Not sure if you realize this Erik, but that statement does not speak very well about this country. It’s been more than two hundred years since this nation embraced democracy, and yet, according to you, it still is struggling to accept that a woman can be the Commander-in-Chief. I am sure you felt the same way before November 2006 elections. A woman, that too from San Francisco, could never become the Speaker of the House. But she did. So may be, just may be, the time has come for this great country to show that it’s ready to be led by a woman or an African American man. At least, that’s what I would like to hope. You can call it The Audacity of Hope.
If I have a daughter some day, I would be damned if I did not raise her with the hope that she was born in a nation where she could grow up to become anyone, and yes, even the President of United States.
In any case, it’s always good to hear from you. The mudslinging and swift boating can wait, don’t you think? We already have a President, and Lord knows, he needs help.

How about this idea? The Democrats roll out a Clinton/Obama ticket, and the Republicans counter with Hutchison/Watts? Who wins that one? I’ll put my money on Hutchinson/Watts.

Confession #1: Can’t say I know much about Hutchinson/Watts. Have they thrown their hat in the ring already? Any pointers to these folks would be much appreciated.
As for putting my money, I don’t have much. I’d rather keep it in my own pocket, than put it on any of these guys..;-) At least, not yet. It’s too early, and I need to know more about them (including Barack Obama) before I swing one way or the other
Confession #2: I do like Barack Obama. I can almost hear you say, “Oh really. What a surprise”..;-)
Anyways, let’s see how things unfold.

The Hutchison/Watts ticket was made-up. They aren’t running. It was just me pairing a white female with a black man. They’re both great politicians, but not running.
Truthfully, I’m very nervous to see what the Republicans do in 2008. I’d love to see Rice run, even though she said she wasn’t.
