The Great American Divide

If you wanted to understand and get a taste of how conservatives are celebrating President Bush’s victory, read this. Agreed this is just one man’s viewpoint, one who admits he is an “..ultra-conservative political commentator”. But it sure gives you an idea of what the “extreme right-wing” viewpoint is.
Now, read this and this to get a taste of the other side. It’s probably not “extreme left-wing” viewpoints, but it’s probably as close to “extreme left-wing” as you will get. If you find a more nastier version, please let me know.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the “Great American Divide of the 21st century”.

I can hardly consider the Atrios or Talking Points Memo postings as extreme left-wing. I have been reading many posts by many people pissed-off because John Kerry lost. The postings run the gamut from conspiracy theories to blaming Kerry himself, to people claiming they want to leave the country. I will point out the following: contrary to what President Bush and his people are saying this was not a large defeat. Considering that no incumbent war-time President has ever been unseated the Kerry camp did a pretty good job and came very close. America is not as polarized as people would have us think. That becomes obvious when looking at the 48% of us that did vote for Kerry. Consider this similar point: in most red states a little under half the people voted for Kerry. Please stop and consider that point as it is very important. This was not a resounding defeat. This was the beginning of the climb back up for the Democratic Party. The blogs, Air America, etc. will help with this process. Its going to require new leadership in the DNC. Get rid of McAuliffe. Daschle being beaten was good too. New blood in the minority leader position is a good thing. Lets think positive here.
