“Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks?”

[via comments on Senator Kerry’s blog]
I am new to the blogger site (I think I would be called a lurker?). Several weeks ago I went on line to make a donation to the K/E campaign and decided to see what the blog site was all about. I probably don’t sound real intelligent to alot of you but to be honest, when it comes to computer savvy, I’m not. I have been a registered Democrat for over 34 years and have supported my party financially over the years (when I could) but that was the extent of my involvement.
My point in writing this is just to say that I am so impressed, so proud, and even awed at all of you. I have learned more in a couple of weeks of reading the blogs than I have ever known. You represent the real power of the people and I just hope that more people “discover” the good work that you do.
And, not only do you keep each other up, informed, share frustrations, and make a difference, your passion is so infectious. I wish I had discovered you months ago (my fault). Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am actively working in my community for K/E, not just sitting at home sending in a donation. And, I contribute it to the passion and commitment I have felt from the bloggers.
Although I haven’t been a regular, I will celebrate with you on November 3rd and will always be grateful that I took time to find out what this site is all about.
Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks?
Thanks to all of you,
Cathy Bean

I luv comments like these. Another average American citizen finding his/her way to the amazing world and power of blogs!
And the beauty is, blogs (actually, I should probably say “Internet”), by their very design, provide a level playing field to one and all. It does not matter if you’re a liberal, a conservative, a progressive or a libertarian. It does not matter if you’re straight, gay or lesbian. If you’re a man or a woman. Black, brown or white. If you’ve got something to say, say it. If people like it, they will either bookmark your site or subscribe to it’s RSS feed. If they don’t like it, they’ll move on.
Sounds fair to me.
So far, so good.
