History lesson from Vietnam

President Bush got it exactly right when he said today: “You know, these people cannot beat us militarily.”
But that of course is not the concern. Colonel Harry G. Summers had the truth pointed out to him when he told a North Vietnamese Colonel, “You know, you never defeated us on the battlefield.” To which his Communist counterpart replied, “That may be so, but it is also irrelevant.”
Hope this little bit of history lesson helps, Mr. President.
