Kerry needs to improve on Gore’s performance in early voting. According to the National Annenberg Election Survey, Bush took a sizable lead into Election Day in 2000. In fact, the lead was so sizable that Gore defeated Bush on Election Day by at least 2,500,000 votes, and overcame deficits in Oregon, Iowa, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Florida.
