Letter received at Kerry HQ:
Dear Senator Kerry,
My friend is voting for only the second time in her life on November 2. That may not sound extraordinary, until I let you in on the little secret. My friend, Mamie, is only 103 years young. But more importantly, she is voting for the second time in her life, since women were given the right to vote in 1920. She was there for that monumental year, and she wants to be there for this historic occasion as well. She knows that the time she has left, whether it’s 3 months or 5 years, can be used to speak her mind and hopefully influence others to vote. She did not exercise that right for a very long time, but now that she realizes that our future lies in our own hands, she knows where she must be on November 2. Mamie has been and will be your biggest supporter from here until Election Day.
As Hilary Clinton would say, “You go girl!”
