Cable “News” Anchors should be forced to disclose their political affiliations…

Wish these channels would enforce a disclosure rule for their hosts and guests similar to what’s done by finance analysts today when they recommend a particular stock. Wouldn’t it be nice if every so-called “pundit” before opening his or her “opinionated mouth” would be forced to say something like:

I am Bill O’Reilly and I am a registered Republican. For more details about my my political affiliations and donations in the past 5 years, please go to www…

Or,

I am Chris Mathews and I am a registered Democrat. For more details about my political affiliations and donations in the past 5 years, please go to www…Oh, now let’s play HardBall..

Or,

My guests today are Mr. Yaadi and Mr. Yaada. Since these guests are not directly working for any political party, we’ve made available their political affiliations and donations in the past 5 years at www…

In the spirit of practicing what I preach, here’s my disclosure:

Hi. My name is Anand Sharma. I am an Indian. I have made political donations just once in the past 5 years. It was $50.00 and was given to John Kerry’s presidential campaign. I am also a Kerry volunteer, although I really have done anything in that capacity.

I bet this disclosure would help my readers better judge the entries that I’ve already written and the ones that I will be writing in the future on this Presidential elections. Wouldn’t you agree?
