Segmentation Fault: Core dumped..;-)

Today is “Rakhi” and my sisters are better than yours…;-)

So, what’s Rakhi you ask? Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about it:

Raksha bandhan or Rakhi is a Hindu festival to signify and extend the brother-sister relationship. Sister ties a rakhi (a holy thread) on to the brothers wrist which signifies ‘a bond of protection’. This festival is typically an occasion for celebration by the whole family.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon of the month of Shravana. For example, in the year 2004 it fell on the 30th of August.

Bottomline, if you’re an Indian, you miss your sisters today. Why? Cause it’s one of those days when you are pampered with lots and lots of luv from your sisters. In return, you’re expected to give her a gift, besides promising to take care of her. It’s a real blast to be around your sisters on Rakhi.

So what if you don’t have sisters? Well, if you’re lucky, you find one (cousin or otherwise) who in the end gives you way more luv than you will ever deserve. Let’s just say me and my brothers are lucky, very very lucky. We found three!

And so last night, as I was getting ready to do some aimless surfing, Sohini, my youngest sister, pinged me on Yahoo. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from her as it had been a while. However, I must confess that I had no idea it was Rakhi in India. We chatted for a bit. She sounded all grown up. Well, who am I kidding? She is all grown up and is in college right now. Majoring in Law. Pretty cool, eh? She was in her early teens when I first came to US. Talking to her felt good. Really really good. Despite being thousands of miles away, she fulfilled her part of the bargain: She came online, tracked us down, showered her unselfish luv and then quietly left. Not sure if I was able to live up to my side of the bargain. Certainly not as much as I would have liked

So, to make up for being such a jerk, here’s to my wonderful sisters on this wonderful day:
