On this day 35 years ago: “Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.”

Armstrong:   Engine arm is off. [Pause.]
Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.

The time was 4:18 EDT on July 20, 1969.

Yup, today is the 35th anniversary of that historic day when mankind first set its foot on the Moon. The day when Neil Armstrong uttered those historic first words:

“That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”

A few years later, an entirely different kind of Eagle landed, albeit on Earth this time. Translation: I was born!

Note:

The not-so-subtle attempt here to hide the actual year of my birth is intentional
