Just heard that Chris Mathews and his Hardball team is already in Tempe. Bob Novak and Paul Bagela's of CNN's Crossfire are also in town. And so are a whole bunch of FBI agents. Man, what am I doing here. Wish I could be in Tempe right this second.

But then again, the temperature there is flirting with 90 degrees and above. I guess one day (10/13/2004) in Tempe sounds fine to me.

I left ASU in Dec. 1998 after completing my Masters in Industrial Engineering (Information Systems) and Computer Science. Since then, I have had the privilege to work (and still do) in some very exciting companies. However, I miss the ambience of an educational institution. The ambience where all you do is seek and share knowledge. Frankly, I have not had too many days in these five-odd years of professional career that can favorably compare to the fun that I had in school.

So, should I do a PhD or should I go do another Masters and then decide what field I want to do a PhD in?

Frankly, I don't know what I want to pursue further studies in. I am passionate about technologies related to the Internet and I am equally passionate about Education. But then again, there is a part of me that is hungry for getting into new stuff - Economics or Finance. As you can see, I know I want to go back to a learning environment. I just don't know to do what. Atleast, not yet. Hence, the need for an advisor and/or mentor who can channel my energy and passion into something a little more anabolic than adding worth to our shareholders' value. Not that there is anything wrong with it

Why MIT? Well, there is a part of me that tells me that I will probably not get admission in MIT. Basically, I am not good enough. When I was younger, such self-doubts would lead me to find the safest escape route. Frankly, I am too old for that. In any case, what do I have to lose anyway
